Conditions We Treat at HealthFirst Chiropractic
At HealthFirst Chiropractic, we don’t just treat symptoms – we identify and correct the underlying problem causing your pain. Our doctors are experienced in a wide range of conditions, from disc injuries and sciatica to headaches and auto accident injuries.
Finding the Source, Not Just the Symptom
Pain is a signal, not a diagnosis. A lot of patients come to us after months or years of care that addressed how they felt but never actually fixed what was wrong. That’s what happens when treatment starts before the problem is properly identified.
At HealthFirst, the first step with every new patient is a thorough workup – consultation, exam, X-rays, and a clear result of tests before any adjusting begins. That process is what makes it possible to treat conditions at the source rather than manage them indefinitely.
Conditions We Treat
Low Back Pain
Low back pain is the most common reason patients come to HealthFirst – and one of the conditions we’re most equipped to address. Whether it’s a disc herniation, degenerative changes, sacroiliac dysfunction, or a mechanical problem that keeps coming back, our doctors find the source and fix it. Spinal decompression is available at our Pickerington office for disc-related cases.
Herniated and Bulging Disc
A herniated or bulging disc doesn’t have to mean surgery. Our doctors identify exactly which disc is involved and address it with precision – Gonstead adjustments to restore proper spinal mechanics, spinal decompression at our Pickerington office to reduce pressure on the affected disc and nerve root, and cold laser therapy to address the inflammatory component.
Sciatica
That burning, shooting pain down the leg has a specific cause – and identifying which structure is compressing the nerve is what makes treatment effective. Our doctors are trained to distinguish between disc-related sciatica, sacroiliac dysfunction, piriformis syndrome, and lumbar joint restriction, because each one requires a different approach.
Neck Pain
Neck pain that keeps coming back is almost always a sign the underlying dysfunction was never properly addressed. Our Gonstead approach identifies exactly which cervical levels are involved and corrects them with precision. If your neck pain is accompanied by headaches, arm pain, or numbness – mention it at your first visit.
Headaches and Migraines
Many patients with chronic headaches have never been told their neck might be the source. The upper cervical spine is directly connected to the nerves that supply the head, and when those joints are restricted or irritated, the result is often a headache pattern that medications can quiet but never resolve. We assess the cervical spine as a primary driver of headache patterns at both locations.
Whiplash and Auto Accident Injuries
Accident-related injuries often don’t fully manifest until 24 to 72 hours after impact. HealthFirst has advanced training in whiplash and auto accident injuries, and our doctors provide thorough evaluations and complete documentation to support your recovery and your claim. Don’t wait to be seen.
Extremity and Sports Injuries
Chiropractic care at HealthFirst goes well beyond the spine. Our doctors are trained to assess and treat shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle, and foot conditions with the same precision they bring to spinal care. Dr. Zullo at our Westerville office also offers Active Release Technique and Graston for soft tissue conditions.
When Should You See a Chiropractor?
If any of the following apply to you, it’s worth getting evaluated:
- Pain that hasn't resolved after a week or two of rest
- Symptoms that keep coming back even after they improve
- Pain, numbness, or tingling that radiates into an arm or leg
- Headaches that correlate with neck stiffness or long periods at a screen
- Limited range of motion that's affecting your daily activities
- You've been in a car accident in the last few days, even if you feel mostly fine
- You want to address the problem rather than manage the symptoms long-term
Frequently Asked Questions About Conditions We Treat
Can chiropractic actually fix these conditions, or does it just help with the pain?
That depends on the condition and how long it’s been present. For many mechanical conditions – disc injuries, nerve compression, joint dysfunction – chiropractic addresses the structural cause directly and the improvement is lasting. For degenerative conditions like arthritis, the goal is meaningful improvement in function and pain levels, not reversal of the underlying changes. Your doctor will give you an honest assessment of what’s realistic for your specific situation.
How do I know if my condition can be helped at HealthFirst?
The best way to find out is to come in for an evaluation. After your consultation, exam, and X-rays, your doctor will tell you clearly whether we can help you, what that looks like, and what to expect. If your situation is better suited to a different provider, we’ll tell you that too.
Do I need a diagnosis before I come in?
No. Many patients come in without a formal diagnosis. Part of what we do in the first two visits is establish exactly what’s going on. If you have prior imaging or records, bring them – but they’re not required to get started.
What if I've had the same problem treated before and it came back?
That’s one of the most common things we hear. Recurring problems usually mean the root cause was never fully addressed. Our process is specifically designed to identify what’s actually driving the problem – not just the area where it hurts.
Do you treat conditions that aren't on this list?
Yes. Contact us and describe what you’re dealing with. If it’s something we can help with, we’ll let you know. If it’s outside our scope, we’ll point you in the right direction.
